We Will Not Come For NPFL Draw – Club Chairman Reveals

We will not come for the Nigeria Professional Football League ( NPFL ) draw for the new season slated for Wednesday in Abuja, says a club chairman in the NPFL, reports www.totorinews.com

In a brief conversation with www.totorinews.com on Tuesday, the club chairman from one of the clubs in North Central, who wants to remain annoymous said that most of the clubs are still finding it difficult to agree with the abridged league format, adding that it is not compulsory for clubs chairmen to be physically present at the NPFL draw event.

“Don’t expect clubs chairmen to come for the NPFL draw. We are yet to agree with the IMC on playing the abridged league, but they can go ahead with the draw on Wednesday.

“We were in Abuja last week and to come back again tomorrow in this season of very stressful flight schedules, re- schedules  and some times cancellation of flights by domestic airlines will be very difficult.

“IMC can go ahead with the event and as it is now, they have resolved to start the league irrespective of the fact they don’t want to reason with our side of the matter.

“Nigeria league supposed to be progressing. If we go ahead with the abridged league, we are not progressing, but the IMC have taken their decision without considering what the majority of the clubs wanted,” he said.

In a related development, an official of the  IMC told www.totorinews.com that the draw will go ahead as scheduled on Wednesday.

“The NPFL draw event will be held on Wednesday. All the 20 NPFL clubs have  received official communication about this event and we are expecting the representatives of the clubs at the event.

“We are also expecting top dignitaries at the event. The NPFL kick off date of January 8, 2023 remains unchanged,” the IMC official said.
