Grassroot football development is my focus in Katsina – Badamasi

A key football stakeholder in Nigeria from Katsina state, Abdussamad Badamasi, a match commissioner in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has said that his main focus as a football administrator is grassroot football development, with emphasis on the development of players, totorinews reports exclusively.

Badamasi, who is vying for the position of chairman of Katsina State Football Association ahead of the State F.A election later this month is of the firm opinion that there are hidden football talents in the state and grassroot football development programmes will fish them out for these players to be nurtured into becoming football stars in Nigeria and the world.

He further said that he looks forward to a beautiful future where more players of Katsina state heritage are making waves at their respective clubs in the NPFL and abroad. He particularly noted with admiration the feat achieved by the U-15 team of Katsina State that won the LMC/La Liga U-15 tournament in Abuja last month as an indication of great football talents that abounds in the state.

“As a lover of football and a football administrator , my focus has always been grassroot football development. Football can only thrive when proper grassroot football development programmes are in place and that is the driving force behind my desire to become the next chairman of Katsina state football association.”Badamasi said.

“U-15 team of Katsina state were crowned champions of LMC/La Liga U-15 tournament in Abuja few weeks ago. This is one of the signs that the state is blessed with abundance of football talents.

“It will be a thing of joy to see more players from rural areas in Katsina state being discovered at grassroot football tournaments in the state and these players goes ahead to become the next big deals in the NPFL, clubs abroad and if possible the national teams of Nigeria,” he added.

“Football can be great and better administered in Katsina state. Good ideas and implementation of my blueprint for football development will move football to the next level of greatness and prosperity among the players and other stakeholders in the state.

“Nothing comes easy. To administer football is very challenging , but i know that with sincerity of purpose and total support from all the stakeholders in Katsina state, together we can achieve more for our football in the state,” he said.
