Super Eagles Coach: One Key Factor That Makes Chelle Unique – Philip Shuaibu

Former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Phillip Shuaibu has hailed the employment of Eric Chelle as the new coach of the Super Eagles, www.totorinews.com reports

Comrade Shuaibu disclosed this when he made a courtsey visit to the office of Director – General of NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade on Thursday.

“In the wisdom of NSC and NFF, they have given us a foreign coach, a French, not a Malian coach and his statistics are good,” Comrade Shuaibu told www.totorinews.com in Abuja.

“One thing i know and i like about this coach is when i remember the Eagles of Mali at the last AFCON in Ivory Coast, the team was filled with young players and when i look at the Super Eagles, the team is also full of young players.

“So, bringing Eric Chelle at this time shows that the NFF and the technical committee have done proper check and from my own thinking and what i saw also with the Malian team, i think we have a new coach that will blend these young players to bring out the best out of the Super Eagles.

“He has something that i like, which is his ability to bring young players together into very compact, mobile and very strong.

“See what Mali did to Ivory Coast, they had to sweat real hard before they could beat Mali. So, if he is bringing that on board the nest of the Super Eagles, i’m sure that Nigeria will qualify for the World Cup and we all will be at Los Angeles,” he said.

He added that it is a normal thing for some Nigerians to oppose the choice of a new coach for the Super Eagles, but he maintained that Chelle has got good statistics to manage the national team of Nigeria.

“I saw some pockets of resistance. It is normal. What is key, is for Nigerians to look at the statistics that Chelle is bringing to the Super Eagles and i think the team will get better,” he concluded.
