Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye has surrendered himself to the Nigeria Police after eight days siege by the police at his residence in Maitama, Abuja,totorinews.com reports.
Senator Melaye, representing Kogi West left his house to report to the Police authority alongside his lawyer and some lawmakers who paid him a solidarity visit earlier today.
He is wanted by the Police for a case of Criminal Conspiracy and Attempted Culpable Homicide, committed on 19th July, 2018, when he and his armed thugs attacked Police personnel, shot and wounded Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, attached to 37 Police Mobile Force (PMF) on stop and search duty along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State.
The end of the drama seemed to appear when Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, yesterday, called on the lawmaker to end the siege by submitting himself for arrest without any further delay and some senators who visited the lawmaker at his residence on Friday also encouraged Senator Melaye to surrender to the police.
The lawmakers then followed Melaye in solidarity to meet with the Inspector General of Police_ Mr Ibrahim Idris in order to find an amicable solution to the problem.
