The House of Representatives in the green chamber of the national assemby has charged Nigeria Communications Commission ( NCC) to shutdown porn websites in Nigeria.
The House called on the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to direct internet service providers in the country not to give access codes to pornographic websites to operate in the country.
The resolution was endorsed and passed on Tuesday, after the motion was sponsored by Hon. Dalhatu Tafoki (APC, Katsina State).
In his motion, Hon. Tafoki exposed the destructive impact of cyber pornography in Nigeria and at the global stage.
He insisted that Nigeria has not taken effective steps to put an end to this business trend that promotes moral decadence, adding that Nigerian society is deeply rooted in religion, where the major faiths in the country does not endorse nudity, obscenity and pornography.

He cited some countries in Asia, the Middle East and Africa where effective anti-pornography laws exist and such immoral websites does not operate in order to polute the minds of the people.
Hon. Tafoki revealed thay psychologists and sociologists have warned about the negative impact of pornography, including its potential to encourage adultery, prostitution, and addiction, thereby affecting productivity.
“Renowned psychologists and sociologists around the world have issued stern warnings on the psychological, sociological and mental consequences of viewing pornographic content,” Hon. Tafodi said.
“Pornographic causes deception in marriage, which may later affect the family life. It promotes adultery, prostitution, which can lead to promiscous behaviour after getting addicted” he said.
The motion was overwhelmingly adopted through voice vote, with the House asking NCC to impose heavy sanctions on service providers that failed to obey the directive henceforth.
