Supremely gifted front man Gift Orban once again proved he was indeed a sweet gift to any club by banging his third goal for new side Hoffenheim to ensure a well deserved 3-1 win at Bremen this evening.
Orban’s effort was the much needed decider in the 63rd minute to make the game safe for Orban and Hoffenheim.
That was his third since his switch from Lyon who had rejected the “Gift” from Belgium, as well as his third on the trot from the gift-accepting German side.
The gift came in a sweet package and not long before it was unpacked Orban had decided to spark and fire up the struggling side further safe from relegation.
It was not all too rosy for the great “gift” in France as Olympique Lyon broke the Le Crédit Lyonnais (LCL) Bank to end Orban’s ever lingering transfer stories from Belgium’s KAA Gent to help fix their French Ligue 1 woes but the gift turned Greek afterwards.
Lyon’s fortunes eventually improved while Orban ran from one trouble to other until Hoffenheim decided he was their best gift to rescue them from the Bundesliga 1 sinking ship.
Orban found love again and accepted the new challenge handsomely and has proved he could be their Messiah after all.
He’s no stranger to the messianic duties he’s signed for as his goals also fired modest Norwegian side Stabaek to the top flight of the Scandinavian nation’s league.
His 16th strike assured Stabaek’s flight to the top flight as the modest side finished second a mind-boggling 23 points behind bullish Brann, the second tier champions in 2022.
That was Orban’s first ever sojourn in Europe after his ship forcefully sailed from the difficult African sub-Saharan backwaters of Togo, his mother’s roots he had escaped to from farmlands of Nigeria’s food basket of the nation.
Feats after feats including his much talked seven-hattrick tales in Belgium, Orban quickly rose to become one of the most sought after young striking guns in Europe.
As sweet as his sights are in front of goal, it’s the opposite with controversies bothering on discipline and momentary lack of spark, but Orban has defiantly continued to prove he’s the real gift against all odds.
His Lyon troubles have become Hoffenheim’s new songs as the struggling side continues to prove they are not the candidates for the chop as the seven point gulf separating them from third from bottom Heidenheim, banks on Orban’s goals to make the difference.
His Hoffenheim’s first baptism had a starting shirt proof tied to it but Orban failed with his new side losing 1-0 to Wolfsburg at home. Bayern Munich with a 5-0 hammer the following week only reminded Orban from the bench he was in for a tough task.
But Orban started showing them how it was done immediately, salvaging whatever that was left of their whitewash at rampaging Bayer Leverkusen pulling one back in the 3-1 road loss. That was after he forced his second goal when Eintranct Frankfurt came and escaped with a 2-2 draw.
It was as good as it got for the striker as he netted again this evening, to up his haul to three goals in six Bundesliga 1 appearances.

Stocky, tough and having a low gravity to the ground, Orban’s proved he’s a tough guy for defenders who must bring something else to stop him.
Bad news it’s been for the back four and the goalkeepers since he invaded Europe as his all-action ways, tireless style and a quick, deadly eye for goal will ultimately force them on their toes for 90 minutes.
Those were the weapons he took to tougher Bundesliga and he’s showing he can compete in the league rated as the most physically demanding.
Sinsheim, a “village” hosting Hoffenheim, largely put in the football map by compatriot Chinedu Obasi and his Senegalese attack sidekick Demba Ba, will be remembered for the sensational promotion to the German top side, their first ever in their existence which was made real by Obasi and Ba.
Sweet history it’s for Orban as he’s fired up to walk in the exalted shadows of Obasi to continue to deliver the goodies for the village club.
Obasi and Ba entertained the 30 000 inhabitants then with their goals and the historic achievement and much will be expected from Orban.
Today, Sinsheim in Baden-Württemberg State of Germany has increased it’s population to 36, 601, according to the 31 December 2022 census, Orban will have more souls to melt with his goals.
Orban’s task is huge, much more than Obasi’s as Hoffenheim struggle to stay afloat and will rely on his goals to sail to safety and possibly compete for honours afterwards.
Orban’s three-year contract means he will stay with the villagers for three years and he’s expected to paint their traditional blue colours with goals.
He’s got nothing to prove again; his goals alerted the top spenders in England and Italy to indicate he’s highly rated. The villagers will definitely add him to their folklore just like they did to Obasi and Ba.
This gift may not be a Greek one after all, Hoffenheim have unpacked a great one to keep.
Will this gift be kept for the dotted three years and won’t force Hoffenheim to invite another to accept their gift?
Only time will tell but then Orban got a mission to fulfill – save his village side with his goals.
He will definitely be on the move again; after completing his mission at Hoffenheim.
His box office movie “The Gift Endures Forever” will surely burst movie charts.
