Nigeria Professional Football League ( NPFL) 2025/26 season will kick off on August 22, 2025 and to end May 24, 2026, says Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, the chairman of NPFL, reports www.totorinews.com.
He said that the last season recorded some millestone achievements with Remo Stars, a privately owned club emerging champions with three games remaining and live matches were broadcast to football fans across Nigeria and the rest of the world.
He further revealed that last season had 380 matches for the 20 clubs that featured, where 19 home games and 19 away games were prosecuted in the country. 286 wins, 92 draws and 552 goals at home were recorded.
He also noted that 60 goals were scored from the penalty spot, while 16 penalties were also missed by teams.
In terms of financial reward, Remo Stars got N200m for winning the league.
The coming season in the NPFL promises to be more exciting for football fans in Nigeria.
