Dolphins FC resurrects in Zaria

Dolphins FC of Portharcort, which became defunct after Rivers state government decided to merge her and Sharks FC to become Rivers United, has resurrected in Nationwide League One (NLO), as a new club based in Zaria, www.totorinews.com reports.

Speaking to totorinews in Abuja, Haruna Abdullahi, the chairman of the club said that the entrance of Dolphins FC into the cradle of football in Nigeria is to further the develop the game in the ancient city and nurture the football talents of the many young footballers in the area.

“Our main aim is to develop the round leather game in the city and the environs. Also, nurture the enormous abundant football talents within and outside Zaira community,” Abdullahi told totorinews.

“I considered that football curb youthful restlessness and there has not been a time where youths have been specifically focused upon as panacea of national development, therefore, it’s important to bring up a project of this magnitude that can lead to successful players movement to ply their football trade. 

“My efforts and energy are directed towards producing  players of high market values, who can play at any level. I have succeeded in transferring a few of the players from local football to League football within these years.

Dolphins FC will compete in division one of the Nationwide League in the new season. The team was formed in 2016 and won the Kaduna State FA Cup the following year.
