A Kuje Upper Area Court in Abuja has sentenced a 30-year-old mechanic, Ade Soji, to three months imprisonment for stealing a customer’s car battery valued at N30, 000.00
Malam Abdulahi Abdulkareem, the Judge sentenced Soji without an option of fine, as he stressed that the punishment would serve as deterrent to other would-be offenders.
Soji, who resides at Gudaba area in Kuje, had pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of joint act and theft levelled against him.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Doris Okoroba, had told the court that Musa Yohana, a resident of Paseli area reported the case on Oct. 10. at Kuje Police Station.
Okoroba said that the convict with one other now at large, conspired and stole a car battery belonging to a customer valued at N30, 000.
Doris said that, after removing the car battery, the culprits replaced it with a different one and when the customer raised alarm, Soji was arrested.
She said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 288 and 326 of the Penal Code.
