Despite the fetish antics of AS Douanes of Niamey, the team has been eliminated by Kwara United of Nigeria, reports www.totorinews.com.
Prior to the beginning of the second leg clash in Niamey, one of the fans of the Nigerien club had poured blood on some players of Kwara United as the team alighted from the bus that conveyed the players and officials of the NPFL clubside to the stadium.
The fetish act caused a bit of rancour between the fans of AS Douanes and officials of the away team, but it never deterred Kwara United from sticking to their tactical plans which saw them eliminate AS Douanes 3-0 on aggregate.
Kwara United had earlier defeated AS Douanes 3-0 in the first leg in Lagos, before playing goalless in Niamey on Sunday evening.
Adewale Adeyinka in goal for Kwara United was the man of the match as he stood between the Nigeriens in their quest to find the back of the net in entire 90 minutes.
In a related development, in Ikenne, Remo Stars were knocked out of the competition following a 1-0 defeat to AS FAR of Morocco.
The visitors scored the decisive goal in the 56th minute.
The Sky Blue Stars held the Moroccans to a 1-1 draw in the first leg, which gave a glimpse of hope that the team would finish the job in the reverse fixture , but sadly, they lost at home.
