From all indications as seen by www.totorinews.com during the training sesion of the Super Eagles this afternoon, it appears that the players have recovered from the shocking defeat to Central African Republic at home.
Yours truly brings you some flakes from the camp of the Super Eagles.
Light training …
The Super Eagles trained on Friday afternoon after their shocking loss to the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic.
The training session was divided into two groups…the players that featured in yesterday’s game had their own ‘jojo centre ball’ and the ones that did not feature were also at the other half of the field having theirs.
John Ogu trains with the Eagles…
A surprise face seen training with the Eagles on Friday afternoon was John Ogu, clubless player who last played for the Super Eagles at the AFCON 2019 Tournament in Egypt.
Ogu looks heavy, but he still showed some flashes of brilliance, beaming with smiles as he re-united with his teammates in the national team.
However, some journalists were wondering the sudden appearance of Ogu in the training of Eagles. This curiosity by journalists was answered by Gernot Rohr.
Rohr explains the appearance of John Ogu…
In a brief media chat after the training, Gernot Rohr was asked the sudden appearance of John Ogu and the Franco – German explained that the defensive midfielder is still a member of the family
“John Ogu is still a member of the family. He came to have few minutes of training with the team to maintain his fitness and he was welcomed,” Rohr said.
He added : “He is without a club at the moment and we hope that he gets a club very soon. We want the best for him.”
We have learnt our lessons – Ahmed Musa
Ahmed Musa, the Super Eagles skipper spoke briefly with the media after the training. According to the 2018 Russia world cup star, the team has learnt their lesson in the bitter loss to Central African Republic.
“The team is not happy with the loss and we have learnt our lesson. Our best efforts will be on display in Douala to get the result that will make Nigerians to be happy on Sunday,” Musa said.
Bad day in office, says Shehu Dikko
The shocking loss of the Super Eagles to the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic has been described by Shehu Dikko, the 2nd Vice President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
“What happened was a bad day in office for the Super Eagles. The team has put that behind them and we know that Nigeria have the quality players to bounce back to victory against Central African Republic,” Dikko told journalists on ground.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s right ankle aches…
The ferocious tackles suffered by Kelechi Iheanacho from the defenders of Central African Republic may prevent the Leicester City attacker from featuring for the Super Eagles in the reverse on Sunday.
Iheanacho was limping a bit after the training, he was seen with ice block tied round his right ankle as he was about to enter the team’s bus.
Good news for Paul Onuachu
The good news is that Paul Onuachu is fully fit. The Gent of Belgium striker did not train with the team since his arrival in the camp on Monday.
He had pain on his left ankle which prevented him from training with with his teammates.
Fortunately, Onuachu trained with ease with the Super Eagles on Friday afternoon . He looked sharp and comfortable with the ball.
Why Eagles trained at 2pm – Gernot Rohr
Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr has revealed to www.totorinews.com the reason the team trained at 2pm at the Teslim Balogun stadium.
Rohr informed that the game between Central African Republic and Nigeria on Sunday will be played at 2pm on Sunday in Douala, Cameroon and it is therefore necessary that the team trains at the same time in Nigeria to get acclimatise to the sunny weather in Cameroon.
“The game is 2pm in Douala. So, we had to train at the same time to get familiar with the weather we are expecting in Cameroon,” Rohr said.
The Super Eagles will take off from Nigeria on Saturday morning from the Murtala Mohammed Lagos, via chartered flight by Air Peace, one of the sponsors of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
