In an inspiring tale of determination and teamwork, former FC One Rocket captain Ugochukwu Chikora Ejike has won the Nigeria Premier Football League title in his debut season with Enugu Rangers. The defensive midfielder played a crucial role in the Flying Antelopes’ success, featuring in 37 out of 38 matches.

In an exclusive interview with Totorinews, Ejike shared his thoughts on winning the title, his mindset coming into the season, and the journey to the final whistle.

“Winning the league with Rangers International feels like a dream come true,” Ejike said, still basking in the glory of their triumph. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to play alongside talented teammates and for the support of our management, coaches, and governor. Our team’s unity and determination were key factors in our success.”

Ejike admitted that winning the league was not on his radar at the start of the season. “I didn’t expect to win the league, but with hard work, resilience, and a bit of faith, we achieved the impossible.” He acknowledged the challenging matches against Kwara United and Enyimba but credited their coach’s emphasis on building strength, fitness, and mental toughness for their success.

The midfielder attributed his impressive form and fitness throughout the season to the coach’s tailored workout regimes and his determination to give his best. He also revealed that maintaining a positive mindset helped him overcome the toughest moments, particularly during matches against stubborn opponents.

This historic win will forever hold a special place in Ejike’s heart, and he expressed his gratitude for the lessons learned and memories made with Rangers International.
