Who are those pushing this Chijioke Aniagboso narrative for the troubled Eagles’ goalkeeping hiatus?
It’s hasty, childish as it’s immature and unsafe for the Super Eagles now that things have gone south in the department.
Aniagboso, whom has just recently joined his Ukrainian club after months of delays and hasn’t even been “introduced” to his new club?
What’s exactly wrong with us a people?
Do you really love Nigerian football and our dear national team, Super Eagles for you to be pushing this immature move?
Was it not the same move that forced Francis Uzoho on us who had only been named in the first team of Deportivo La Coruna and hadn’t tasted La Liga actions and look at what we have got in him?
Uzoho forced his way into the Super Eagles team on account of his performances for the B team of Deportivo La Coruna playing in the Spanish fourth tier football powered by some people for their selfish interests.
We’ve begun this again with Aniagboso who is still alien to European football and some people are pushing move for some quick dash to the bank at the detriment of our football that’s sliding down the hill with each passing day?
No one is talking about regular playing home breed and diaspora goalkeepers and even in the local league and suddenly Aniagboso is the solution to our comatose goalkeeping thin line?
Chippa United and former Enyimba goalkeeper Valentine Nwabili is super regular in the highly competitive South Africa PSL and Jose Peseiro saw no issues inviting game rusty Uzoho to disgrace us against Saudi Arabia and tearfully, home-based Mozambique.
I weep for Nigerian football!
Presently, the goalkeeping department is the worse hit and not now that the entire team is gradually waking up and living up to their billings, and not now that we will be talking up some Aniagboso hasty narratives.
Previously, the whole team was so sick that things continued to get worse and the worsening crisis in the goalkeeping department is further rubbing mud on the fast recovering team.
How much longer are we going to stay unconvincing and critically vulnerable between the sticks?
The African Cup of Nations finals are afoot and the rag-tag goal line will surely give the team away if things are not critically done to salvage whatever is left of what will definitely kill the team.
Uzoho and returnee Maduka Okoye must not be anywhere near Abidjan, Yamasoukro et al if their club fortunes do not change for the better. The journey to the land of the ivory is not far, be warned!
Surgically, LASK of Austria goalkeeper Tobias Lawal is available but not without some knotty issues bordering on nationality but can be fixed via a waiver since Austria immigration laws do not support dual nationality. Lawal’s Eagles’ goalkeeping rescue mission will not aborted since option of waiver can be activated. Peseiro, here’s your goal saviour!
Noel Atubolu is another option, from Germany, same port, Okoye was shipped from to Eagles but the situation remains unclear as where his allegiance lies. Former Germany youth international, it remains to be seen how far the apex soccer body, the NFF will go in making Atubolu head home.
A stitch in time saves nine, a quick stitch will save Nigeria’s blushes in the coastline hunting for ivories.
