A member of victorious Super Eagles team that won the AFCON tournament in 1994, Edema Fuludu, has commended President Bola Tinubu -led APC government and the leadership of NSC after redeeming Abuja land pledge made to the Super Eagles that won silver medal at the last AFCON tournament in Cote d’ ivoire last year.

In an exclusive interview with www.totorinews.com. Fuludu said that he is very impressed with how the Federal Government through the NSC was quick in giving the current Super Eagles players the Abuja land documents pledged to them last year, noting that it took him and his former teammates many years to collect theirs.
“I must commend the FG what happened few days ago in Fes, Morocco when the Super Eagles were presented with the land documents promised to the players and officials,” Fuludu said.

“Although presenting the land documents in Morocco seems to be like a distraction, but it was very obvious that the players were very happy about the development,” he added.
He flashed back to what happened in 1994 when him and his teammates won the AFCON trophy, as he lamented that it took him six years to collect the property given to him by the FG, while some of his teammates got theirs after 27 years of waiting.

“When i saw what happened, i went back memory lane. I remember vividly that the late Head of State Gen Sani Abacha promised us house property in 1994, but i got mine six years later.
“Those of us that chose Abuja got ours six years later. The twelve of us chose Abuja. The rest that chose Lagos had to wait for 27 years. I think they got theirs in 2021 thereabout when Muhammadu Buhari was in his seconf tenure as president.

“So, i commend President Tinubu for this kind gesture, and also the leadership of national assembly, the NSC and the NFF for their efforts in making the players not to wait like we did.
“The players should know what is at stake in this AFCON tournament in Morocco and i hope that the team will make Nigerians smile too with their performance.

Super Eagles laboured to a 2 -1 victory over the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in their opening game in Group C on Tuesday and the team will tackle the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in their second game on Thursday in Feś, Morocco.
