Former Super Eagles of Nigeria safe hands Emmanuel Ndubuisi Egbo says, that the greatest part of his career was at the then NEPA Fc of Lagos, Nigeria.
According to the former Nigeria international goalkeeper, still the only Nigerian coach to win a league title in Europe, who achieved that feat with FK Tirana, winning Albania’s 2019/20 Super Lig championship – and so also taking the club into the Champions League qualifiers, he praised the tactical acumen of late coach Joe Erico, who was popularly called Joggo Bonito.

Egbo went back the memory lane when NEPA Fc was a torn to many clubs in Nigeria in the early 1990’s and there was so much discipline and professionalism among the players, under the tutelage of Erico.
“At Nepa Football Club Lagos then if you don’t come to the stadium early enough you will miss the first goal. It is either Henry Onwuzurike, James Terna or Ifeanyi Ekwueme would have scored,” Egbo said in an exclusive chat with www.totorinews.com via phone conversatio from his base in Albania, Europe.

“We played football enjoyed by the fans at the then Onikan Stadium in Lagos and coach Joe Erico instilled a lot of discipline in us. I learnt a lot from Coach Joe Erico.
“NEPA Fc then was like a shinning clubside that produced a lot of football stars.
“NEPA Football Club of Lagos then, was home to James Terna, Victor Skinn, Morgan Nwachukwu, Godfrey Nwanpka, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, and Henry Onwuzurike just to mention a few.
Egbo had a flourishing career with NEPA Fc 94-95, Julius Berger Fc 1996-1998, and El Masry of Egypt in 1998-2001, before joining FK Tirana of Albania in 2001-2004 season.
The tactician was in goal when the Super Eagles defeated Burundi by 2 -0 in an African Cup of Nations qualifier at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abeokuta in 1998.

He was a member of Super Eagles team that won silver medal at the 2000 AFCON co- hosted by Ghana and Nigeria.
