Troops of 25 Task Force Brigade on routine patrol to secure communities around Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa LGA of Borno State, came under attack by terrorists while returning from a successful patrol within the fringes of Sambisa Forest.
A statement by the acting director Army public relations Lieutenant Colonel Appolonis Anele said, patrol team led by the Commander 25 Brigade Brigadier General M. Uba, comprised troops of 25 Task Force Brigade and members of Civilian Joint Task Force fought gallantly through the ambush forcing criminals to withdraw in dissaray.
The statement confirmed that, during the encounter two soldiers and two CJTF members paid the supreme price while commending the troops for their gallantry, the Army high command commiserated with families and fellow compatriots of the deceased.
The Army Headquarters also wishes to react to fake narrative alleging the abduction of the Brigade Commander, describing it as false and misleading
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, salutes the bravery and sacrifice of the gallant troops who have continued to operate in one of the most dangerous theatres of conflict in the quest to completely win the war
