Now that Algeria is the semi -final foe of Nigeria, John Obi Mikel, captain of the Super Eagles has said that the team has the fighting spirit to beat the desert foxes of Algeria and qualify for the final of the AFCON 2019 tournament in Egypt.
Mikel informed totorinews in Cairo that the players are well motivated after the victories over Cameroon and South Africa in round 16 and quarter final respectively, as he stressed that Algeria is another familiar foe that the Super Eagles are capable of beating on Sunday at the Cairo International stadium.
“We defeated Cameroon and South Africa to get to this stage of the tournament. We have to keep going , even if we don’t play well , we still have the fighting spirit and that is what have kept us in the tournament. I think we have the fighting spirit to beat Algeria.” Mikel said.
“We are in the semi- final and we have to keep fighting to reach our main goal, which is to win the AFCON. We have beaten Algeria before during the qualifiers for the World Cup in Russia and this team can still do it again,”he said.
The other semi final game is between Senegal and Tunisia.
