As Nigerians are still optimistic of podium finish for Nigerian athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, the MD/CEO of Premium trust bank has said that the bank will continue to support the athletes, www.totorinews.com reports.
Emefienim disclosed this in a brief chat on Tuesday morning in Paris, that his corporate financial outfit sponsors two Nigerian athletes – Ese Brume and Tobi Amusan and they have provided the needed funds for their preparation and training, and it is hoped that they will excel with medals.
He noted that sport is a platform to help the Nigerian youth and as sponsors of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Premium trust bank will continue to provide the needed support for Nigerian athletes to thrive on the global stage like the Olympics.
“At Premium trust bank our relationship with AFN is all about providing the needed support and for the AFN to help the athletes for competitions and make them contribute immensely to the success of Nigeria in international games,” Emefienim said.
“So, basically we see this as a platform for empowering our athletes, for ensuring that they get the best of training, support, they are well prepared for games like the Olympics and encourage them to do well.
“You have seen that we have also extended that to signing two Nigerian athletes ( Tobi Amusan and Ese Brume), as Brand Ambassadors and we are very hopeful that in this Olympics we will come back home with medals.
“We have provided funds to support their training and monitor how they fair and that is exactly what we’ve done in the past two- three years.
“For us, it’ is all about Nigerians, it is all about the youth, it is all about ensuring that they have that platform. We have seen them struggle when it comes to basic things that they need when it comes to big games for big tournaments. If the private sector can set in and do more, our Athletes will be able to perform alot better and excel at the highest level,” he concluded.
