FIFA Approves Normalisation Committee to Run Nigerian Football

NFF/FIFA

The Bureau of the FIFA Council on Thursday approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to oversee the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) pending fresh elections into the federation’s Executive Committee.

According to a letter signed by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström and addressed to Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, MON, the committee “shall consist of a suitable number of members, who will be appointed jointly by FIFA and CAF as soon as possible.”

The letter further stated that the committee’s tenure would end upon the completion of its assigned tasks, but no later than May 31, 2027.

It also stipulated that none of the committee members would be eligible to contest any of the positions to be filled during the forthcoming NFF elections.

Meanwhile, the NFF Secretariat will continue to handle the day-to-day running of the federation and the administration of Nigerian football pending the appointment of the Normalisation Committee.
