Tade Azeez, President of Nigeria Referee Association NRA, says that the association will not send Nigerian referees to officiate any league match in the city of Jos, a place he described as a war zone, totorinews.com reports exclusively.
According to him, the Nigerian referees cannot continue to be assaulted and beaten at league venues as was witnessed last Sunday at Zaira road stadium in Jos on the match day one of the Nigeria Professional Football League game between Plateau United and FC Ifeanyi Ubah that ended goalless.
“Violence against Nigerian referees must stop. NRA will not send referees to Jos again this season. We will not allow Nigerian referees to go to a league venue that is not safe, Jos is a war zone in Nigeria football and we must protect our members.” Azeez said.

“As a father I will not allow my children to go to a place where their lives are not secured. NRA is still waiting for the decision from the appropriate quarters on this matter and we want adequate security for Nigerian referees at every league venue,” he said.
