Bendel Insurance head coach, Kennedy Boboye, has been handed a 17-match suspension and fined ₦2 million following an incident of gross misconduct directed at a match official during his side’s clash with Plateau United www.totorinews.com reports.

The incident occurred over the weekend at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, where the experienced tactician was reported to have acted in an inappropriate manner toward the referee.

The league’s disciplinary body took action after determining that Boboye’s conduct constituted a clear breach of regulations guiding the behavior of team officials. The ruling underscores the league’s commitment to maintaining discipline, respect, and professionalism across all levels of competition.

The lengthy suspension means Boboye will be absent from the touchline for a significant stretch of Bendel Insurance’s fixtures, a development that could impact the club’s campaign.

As of the time of filing this report, Bendel Insurance have not released an official statement regarding the sanction, and it remains uncertain whether the club will lodge an appeal.
