Nigeria Lock Horns With Sao Tome and Principe in Inconsequential AFCON Qualifier

Strategic talk ....Jose Peseiro and some Super Eagles

The stage is set for three – time African Champions, Nigeria’s Super Eagles to wrap up their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying duties as they host Sao Tome and Principe today.

The game is the second of a two legged fixture. The first leg ended 10-0 in Nigeria’s favour in Morocco, the visitors have however vowed to be at their best to avoid another pummeling.

Although the Super Eagles have already qualified for the 2023 AFCON which comes up next year in Cote D’Ivoire, they need a point to be sure of finishing as group winners.

Today’s game against the True Patriots is scheduled for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo Akwa Ibom state, a stadium that has been tagged a fortress to the three time African Champions.

Despite having about five established strikers in camp, coach Jose Santos Peseiro says he is not facing a selection headache as any of the invitees can be called upon to start.

The game will kick off at 5pm Nigerian time.
