As football- loving Nigerians eagerly await the judgement of CAF in the football dispute between Nigeria and Libya, Hon. Kabiru Amadu he is very optimistic that the African football body will sanction Libya appropriately.
Hon. Amadu, who is the Chairman of House Committee on Sports at the National Assembly said that the world of football will be glad if Libya gets the hammer from CAF.
“CAF should understand that appropriate sanctions must be given to Libya Football Association because what Libya did was very inhumane, it was a display of cruelty against Super Eagles.
“We never expected that at this time and age such a thing would happen to our national team, which was held hostage for 18hrs at Al Abraq Airport in Libya.
“If at the end of this show of shame CAF did not punish Libya that means the football of African Football is in danger and anything can happen to any visiting team.
“So, we hope that Libyan will learn their lesson how not to treat a visiting team when CAF gives their judgment on the matter on Wednesday,” he said.
The reverse fixture of the AFCON qualifier between Libya and Nigeria scheduled for last week Tuesday in Benghazi was later cancelled by CAF due to the fiasco from Libyan authorities.
NFF wants CAF to award the three points at stake and three goals to the Super Eagles.
