Mikel eager to return to the Super Eagles

After missing in the nest of the Super Eagles since the team lost the last  group game against Argentina 2-1 in St. Petersburg at the 2018 Russia World Cup, Mikel John Obi is eager to make a return to the Super Eagles, totorinews.com reports.

According to AOIFootball.com, the Super Eagles captain  has finally broken his silence, saying he can’t wait to return to national team action with the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles and an international friendly against Egypt in sight.

The midfield general, who recently became a free agent after ending his contract with Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Teda, has shown tremendous leadership in the camp of the Super Eagles.

The former Chelsea star posted a picture of himself in the colours of the Super Eagles on Thursday morning on his official Instagram page with the caption: “Can’t Wait.”

His return will come as a delight to Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr who has told the media that the Eagles captain’s quality is needed in his young team and he will be welcomed anytime he indicates interest.

The Super Eagles is expected to regroup in March for the last AFCON 2019 qualifier and an international friendly against Egypt, both games are billed to be staged at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
