Former Bendel Insurance defender Tanimu Benjamin has expressed excitement after getting his first call-up to Nigeria’s male senior national team.
The Nigeria Football Federation announced a 27-man list to take on Ghana and Mali in an International friendly later this month.
The unfamiliar name in the squad happens to be a young player, who was born and raised in ancient Benin City, Benjamin recently joined a Tanzanian club Ihefu Sports Club from Bendel Insurance. It is said that “the reward for hard work is more work”.
Benjamin was a workaholic defender for the Benin Arsenal. His inclusion in the squad speaks volumes about his potential. However, he is no stranger to international football as he was a youth international for Nigeria at U23 level.
The 21-year-old defender while briefing www.totorinews.com expressed excitement for his recent promotion.
“I am really happy because I never expected it. My appreciation goes to the NFF and coaching crew for giving me this dream opportunity”.
He also talked about fighting for his shirt in the national team
“first impression matters a lot I will do my best and leave the rest to God”.
For Benjamin, donning the green and white jersey is not just a dream come true but a testament to his dedication and hard work.
