Dignity in labour …Kingsley Obiekwu take a bow

Kingsley Obiekwu, former Super Eagles defender, a member of 1996 Atlanta gold medal winning team did what many of his former teammates or ex. internationals would not dare to think about.

Knowing the economic hardship in the country and as a coach of a modest club in Enugu, Obiekwu had to combine the job with that of a commercial driver, using his Sienna Toyota vehicle to convey passengers along popular Nsukka route.

The former Enugu Rangers defender removed ego of whatever he might have achieved in football to come down to the level of loading his Sienna as commercial vehicle in order for him to earn additional income to take care of his family.

There is dignity in labour and this was what Obiekwu displayed to the world without shame or pride.
His noble efforts to take care of his family has seen kindness extended to him through Ahmed Musa, the captain  of the Super Eagles, who sent him N2m to his account.

Musa, has also done well to remember a senior player in financial mess. That is the beauty of football. What is the essence of financial wealth if you can’t share it with people in need? Little wonder that Musa has received lots of prayers from Nigerians.

Imagine if Obiekwu just sat down at home like some of his fellow former footballers, complaining bitterly about his financial state and the general economic woes in the country, would he have gotten this help from Ahmed Musa? Think a minute about this.

Whatever you can do with your hands or legs that is legitimate,  go ahead and do it to earn an income for yourself and family.

Helpers are around, but you must position  yourself to receive help in the manner Obiekwu Obiekwu had done.

It is N2m he got from Musa, but don’t be surprised if other kind hearted wealthy Nigerians decides to follow the thought pattern of Musa by blessing him more with millions of naira in the coming days.

This is Nigeria, a country filled with millions of very kind people.
