With the devastating effects of Coronavirus in the world, where most countries in Europe are already feeling the deadly effects of the virus,a Nigerian player based in Ukraine has admitted being scared of his life.

Oghenekevwe Hilary-Edjere, who plies his trade with FK Energetik Solonitsivka in Ukraine regional league informed that the best thing is to for everyone to keep to the rules of personal hygiene, stay indoors and keep the faith strong by praying to God for divine intervention.

Hillary-Edjere informed totorinews exclusively that this is not the time to be unnecessarily stubborn, wayward or reckless, noting that only one person has tested positive in Kharkiv, the city he lives in Ukraine, yet virtually everyone are indoors like self isolation until the coast is clear.

“I’m scared. Of course that is the fact. To be frank, I’m quite afraid, but at the same time, I have faith in God to keep me safe. This is not the time to be reckless and foolish as we exercise our faith,” Hillary-Edjere told totorinews exclusively.

“We have to adhere to the rules of staying safe and try to reduce the fears in our hearts. COVID-19 can be scary but we should not entertain fears. My faith in God is still strong.

“I’m scared for my life, I won’t lie. I believe that if you stay in your house, there is no way COVID-19 will come to infect you, but if you choose to be stubborn, then you deserve what you get.

“Nobody in my neighbourhood has contacted the virus. In fact in Kharkiv,  the city I live , only one person has tested positive for the Coronavirus.

“Most of the cases recorded in Ukraine are at the complete opposite side of the country like 11-12 hours journey by train and in Kiev, we only have about 10 cases  of people that have been infected with the virus.

“But it is only one case in Kharkiv. Still you are not free to move around.

“I will beg Nigerians not to joke with COVID-19. It is not the deadliest threat in terms of diseases. Ebola virus is more deadly. The problem is that COVID-19 is extremely contagious.

“Nigerians must not be wayward in order to avoid severe consequences that could result in loss of lives.

“Please adhere to all the rules of safety because our best chance is to prevent ourselves from being infected with the virus,” he concluded.
