Bojang’s Goal Sends Nigeria Out, as Scorpions Sting Flying Eagles in Semifinal

Adama Bojang, lethal weapon of Gambia

Adama Bojang’s goal in the 8th minute was all the Young Scorpions of Gambia needed to sting Flying Eagles to a semi – final loss at the AFCON U20 tournament in Egypt on Monday evening, reports www.totorinews.com

Flying Eagles appeared to be in charge of the opening minutes of the game as they tried to break the defence of Gambia, but a a pass from Onuche Ogbelu was intercepted, which paved way for Bajang to score with a clinical finish.

One touch. One goal from the striker, which unfortunately became the only goal of the game.

A perfect opportunity to equalise was presented to the Flying Eagles when VAR awarded penalty to the team, but Ahmed Abdullahi, who stepped up to play the kick, failed to hit the back of the net five minutes to the end of regulation time.

It was very glaring that Gambia came with a game plan which really worked for the team as they qualified for the final without conceeding a goal in five games the team had played so far in the tournament.

Gambia will tackle Senegal in the final game, another team that has not conceede a goal in the tournament.

Nigeria will file out against Tunisia in the bronze medal game.
