AFCON 2023: Four Players Likey To Compete For The Golden Boot Award

    The African Cup of Nations tournament is just round the corner with several national teams gearing up for the prestigeous title; Senegal, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, and Cameroun are among the top contenders.     

    The tournament will feature some highly skillful players ready to shine with their outstanding performances.   

    It is therefore imperative to highlight the  players expected to compete for the Golden boot award:  

     (1) Victor Osimhen    

    Victor Osimhen is a strong contender for the AFCON Golden boot this year.  

    The Nigeria International, aged 24 years, possesses excellent goal scoring abilities, both in the air and with his feet. 

    The reigning African footballer of the year is set to pose a serious threat to opposing defenses during the tournament.    

     (2) Mohamed Salah    

    Heading into AFCON representing Egypt, Mohamad Selah has already scored 18 goals this season.  His pace, dribbling skills and impressive finishing make him a solid competitor for the AFCON golden boot award.     

    (3) Youssef En- Nesyri    

    Despite not getting much media attention, Youssef En- Nesyri excels as a striker for Morocco.  Like Osimhen, the Morocco international is proficient with headers and foot scoring.  

    Playing in an attacking minded team like Morocco, increases his chances of finding goal scoring opportunities in the tournament.      

     (4)  Sadiq Mane      

    Even after moving to the Saudi Pro league , Sadiq Mane continue to maintain high standard as a top player of both National and Club levels.  

    The Senegalese international is a significant threat to opposing defenders ,  showcasing great goal scoring ability over the years. 

    His consistent performance makes him a strong contender for the AFCON Golden boot award this year.
