ADC Mourns as Deputy Spokesman Ugochimereze Asuzu Slumps, Dies in Imo

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has confirmed the sudden death of its Deputy Publicity Secretary, Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu, who reportedly slumped and died in the early hours of Wednesday.

It was gathered that the State Publicity Secretary MacDonald Amadi announced the incident in a statement, describing Asuzu’s passing as “a devastating loss.”

“The passing of Chief Asuzu is an irreplaceable loss to his family, the ADC family, and the larger Nigerian society,” the party said.

Asuzu, a native of Umuma Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area, was widely respected as both a politician and cultural advocate. He held degrees in Theology and Political Science and was pursuing a doctorate at the time of his death.

The ADC praised him as “a man of uncommon intellect, conviction, and service,” noting his roles as convener of Ikoro Ndigbo, founder of the Igbo Intelligentsia Renaissance, and leader of I Stand With ADC, a coalition group promoting democratic participation.

Beyond politics, Asuzu was a theologian, entrepreneur, writer, and visiting lecturer who frequently contributed to national discourse as a public affairs analyst.

The party’s statement also remembered him as “a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor who inspired many in both religious and secular circles.”

Burial arrangements will be announced later, the ADC said.
