Remo Stars win NPFL title for the first time

Olamilekan Adedayo’s 84th minute goal did not only secure victory against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday evening, but it also earned the team its first NPFL title for the modest privately  owned club in Nigeria.
The goal also ensured that a club based in South West, Nigeria has won the league after 25 years. It was indeed a great feat for the team tutored by Daniel Ogunmodele, that paraded some excting young players.

Remi Stars celebrate their maiden NPFL title
From the blast of the whistle, Remo Stars were very intentional about the winning the game judging by their attacking forays into the vital area of Niger Tornadoes.
The home fans thought they had a goal to cheer, but Alex Oyowah’s effort was ruled out for offside, and several opportunities fell to Nduka Junior, Sikiru Alimi, and Bello Babatunde, yielded no fruit as first half came to an end.

On resumption, Remo Stars piled more pressure on their opponents with Oyowah hitting the crossbar and testing the goalkeeper again. Substitutions brought fresh fire into the game, and after Haruna Hadi narrowly missed.
Relief came for the home fans when Adedayo finally cracked down the defence of Tornadoes, hitting the ball into the net to seal the victory and create history for the club.
The team won the league with a game to spare after amassing 68pts from 35 games, 10 points clear from Rivers United, their closest rivals this season in the NPFL.

It is hoped that the team will have adequate preparation as they raise the Nigerian flag in the CAF Champions League next season.
