NPFL Clubs To Pay Heavy Fines Over Unlawful Contract Termination, Unpaid Salaries

The NPFL Status Committee has handed down severe penalties to several clubs, including Abia Warriors, Enyimba, Katsina United, and others, for various offenses such as unlawful termination of contracts and unpaid salaries/wages.

The decisions aim to address the long-standing issue of player and coach exploitation in the NPFL.

The affected clubs have been ordered to pay millions of naira in compensation and overdue payables to players and coaches. The payments are to be made in installments between June and September 2024.

The breakdown of the payments is as follows:

– Abia Warriors:
– Ikedinachi Nwakanma and Julius Obinna: N4m and N3m respectively for wrongful contract termination.
– Imoh Azubuike: N3.15m in overdue payables.
– Victor Alegbe: N5m for wrongful contract termination and overdue payables.
