After recording one of the biggest upsets in African football by beating the stars – studded Super Eagles 1-0, Head coach of Guinea-Bissau, Baciro Cande, says his team was surprised by the win, reports www.totorinews.com.
Super Eagles, three-time African champions failed to claw Wild Dogs at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja on Friday in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier to the dismay of millions of Nigerian football fans.
“We are surprised, but the team trained very hard and today they beat Nigeria, a big football country with good players. We feel good about this victory against Nigeria,” Baciro Cande told the media at the post – match media conference on Friday evening.
“This victory is for the Guinea-Bissau people, we respect all the Nigerian players, but big names don’t play football on the pitch.
“We are very happy about this victory and the boys did a very good job. The result is very important for us and the Guinea-Bissau people.”
