Why Australia Denied Visa Issuance To Nigeria Supporters Club – Embassy Official

As the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup comes to end on Sunday with the final between Spain and England, it has been revealed to www.totorinews.com the main reason members of various Supporters clubs were denied entry visa to Australia.

According to an official of the High Commission of Nigeria in Australia, who wants to remain anonymous, Nigerian supporters goofed by not going through the right channel, also for not coming together under one umbrella in their official documentation with Australia government regarding their visas.

“We felt the absence of members of football supporters club from Nigeria. Normally, it would have been easier if they had gone through the right channel.

“The members did not contact the office of the High Commissioner of Nigeria to Australia for the process of getting visas to support the Super Falcons.

“Things would not have  been difficult for them if they had gone through the High Commission in Australia, but that aside, the main problem was them having different groups of supporters.

“Different groups of supporters contacting Australian government with different documents for the same purpose did not speak well of the intentions of the supporters clubs.

“Therefore, it did not come as a surprise when Australian government denied them visas and this may be the beginning of more embassies denying them visas in future tournaments.

“If they refuse to come together under one umbrella in their quest to support the football national teams of Nigeria, it will be difficult for them to be granted visas to these developed countries.

“In a nutshell, they were not organised as a body, which sent a red signal that denied granting them visas to Australia.
