There is no doubt that the invitation of Taiwo Awoniyi to the camp of the Super Eagles for the double header clash with Central Africa Republic in the on- going Qatar 2022 World cup qualifying games is a welcome development in all ramifications.
Millions of football loving fans of the Super Eagles all over the world cherished the news of the invitation of the former junior international as a replacement for Lorient forward Terem Moffi, as they hailed Gernot Rohr and his technical crew for beaming their search light in the direction of Awoniyi.
Displaying the pace, power and sublime goalscoring skills that have made him one of most feared strikers in the German Bundesliga where he has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 12 games in all competitions this season, Awoniyi deserves his maiden call -up to the Super Eagles. It is long overdue.
And being named in the German Bundesliga team of the week will definitely spurn him more to showcase his good qualities among the array of stars in the Super Eagles.
The Union Berlin lanky forward is an epitome of humility, hardwork and highly disciplined professional footballer and from all indications Awoniyi will definitely compliment the attack of the Super Eagles with his unique and robust style of play to the detriment of the opposing defenders.
With in- form strikers like Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu and now Awoniyi in the nest of the Super Eagles, it is hoped that the technical crew of the team would deploy lethal attacking formation that will rain goals against Les Fauves of Central Africa Republic.
