Confidently strong with the play, inteligent marking, great composure, solid aggression and highly focused, summarised the debut performance of Igoh Ogbu for the Super Eagles against the Black Stars of Ghana.
It was a game that the Super Eagles won 2-1 in the thrilling encounter at the GTECH community stadium in Brentford on Wednesday night, but it was a night that Ogbu gave the Nigerian football fans a breathe of fresh air in the defence to the delight of Nigerian football stakeholders.
Igoh Ogbu
He had a good understanding with his central defence partner, Semi Ajayi, who scored the second goal for Nigeria.
Ogbu has been rock- solid defender all through the season for Slavia Prague of Czech Republic, where he won the league and he has patiently bidded his time to earn his debut appearance for the Super Eagles, of which he grabbed the opportunity with a sublime performance.
“For me, playing for Nigeria is a thing of joy and am proud to be a Nigerian,” he told www.totorinews.com after the game against Ghana.
Of course, his performance was indeed a thing of joy to behold and it is hoped that he will continue to add strenght to the defence of the Super Eagles in subsequent games and in years to come.
Nigeria will play the final of the Unity Cup against Jamaica on Saturday at the same venue.
