The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its counterterrorism campaign across the North-West and North-East with a series of coordinated precision airstrikes that dismantled terror strongholds, neutralised fleeing fighters, and halted an attempted ISWAP/Boko Haram offensive.
The operations, conducted on 27 November 2025, underscore the Service’s expanding intelligence-driven capabilities and its commitment to protecting communities across the country.
Under Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) Sector 2, NAF aircraft carried out two major interdiction missions in Katsina State. The first strike, executed at approximately 0630 hours, targeted a fortified base operated by a notorious terrorist kingpin responsible for persistent kidnappings, bandit attacks, and livestock rustling in Kankara, Faskari and Malumfashi LGAs. Precision-guided munitions destroyed the camp, while continuous Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) enabled follow-on engagements as surviving fighters attempted to escape.
A second strike at about 1755 hours hit another insurgent enclave in Danfako, Faskari LGA, demolishing logistics hubs, structures, equipment and operational infrastructure. The offensive neutralised several terrorists and degraded their operational capacity, further denying criminal elements safe havens across the North-West.
In the North-East, NAF air power played a decisive role in repelling a coordinated ISWAP/Boko Haram assault on Chibok. Ground forces of the 28 Task Force Brigade, Sector 4 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) came under attack as insurgents launched a multi-front offensive. Guided by real-time intelligence from troops on the ground, NAF aircraft delivered four major strikes against regrouping terrorists along their escape routes, inflicting heavy losses. Additional precision engagements on fleeing fighters disrupted their withdrawal and prevented them from reorganising.
The integrated air-ground operation ensured the insurgents suffered significant casualties and safeguarded the Chibok community from renewed violence.
The NAF emphasised that these successful operations highlight its unwavering commitment to precision, professionalism and the protection of civilian lives.
The Service reaffirmed its resolve to continue working closely with ground troops and other security agencies to restore peace and stability across all regions affected by terrorism and insurgency.
