In an exclusive Interview with Nwakanwa, It has been extablished that the management of the club abandoned the goalkeeper in hospital since 9th of November 2023 till date.

“I fractured my leg at a training session at Heartland FC on Thursday, 9th November, 2023. It was a two – aside training. I was rushed to a Medical Centre in Owerri, but the hospital management refused to treat me until a deposit was made,” Nwakanma lamented.

“The Technical Adviser, Christian Obi made a personal deposit payment of 300k Naira to the hospital as a part payment for my treatment. It is very sad that I have been abandoned since then.

“There is still an outstanding payment of N1.7M left to be paid to the hospital to enable me to be discharged.

“Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State is a nice man, a good man. I remember when Heartland won promotion to the NPFL last season, His Excellency was very kind to the team.

“A cash of N100m was released to the management of Club when he hosted the team at the begining of the 2023 / 2024 NPFL Season, yet they abandoned me in the hospital because of bills relating to an injury i sustained in active service for the club.

“I pray that my situation will get to the ears of Imo State Governor. I will continue to cry out for an urgent help and intervention from Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.

“The governor is a very good man with a caring heart towards the good welfare of Heartland FC players and the club officials,” he said.

With this sad account from Nwakanma, www.totorinews made several attempts through phone calls, SMS, WhatsApp messages, etc to get the response of the Imo State Sports Commissioner on this issue to no avail, Including that of Ambassador Ogbonna Elizer, Chairman Imo State Sports Commission.

It is hoped that the relevant authorities will respond positively to the ordeal of Nwakanma and speedy up the process of paying the outstanding balance of hospital bill of the agile goalkeeper.
