John Utoblo, New Kid With Great Reflexes in Flying Eagles

John Utunbulon, very agile goalkeeper in Flying Eagles camp

The display of talented footballers in the Flying Eagles camp under the tutelage of Ladan Bosso is a beauty to watch, from the goalkeeping department to the defence, midfield and attack, all boast of gifted players.

It has been a keen contest in the goalkeeper department where the likes of Nathaniel Nwosu, Chijioke Anigboso, Saheed Akanbi, all three goalkeepers that were at the WAFU B U 20 championship have continued to work hard in their quest to be reliable safe hands in goal for Nigeria at the forthcoming AFCON U 20 tournament in Egypt next month.

However, there is a new kid on the block in the Flying Eagles camp  blessed with sharp reflexes, agility, strong composure and confidence in goal and his presence in training with other goalkeepers has made it a keen contest.

John Utoblo, the young goalkeeper from Mavlon FC has been a delight to watch during the different aspects of the training sessions of the Flying Eagles at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Richly endowed …John Utunbulon

He has demonstrated bravely, sublime use of his body especially during the shooting drills of the players to test their goalscoring abilities. He is richly endowed with shot stopping ability.

He has also made good use of his feet with accurate passes to his teammates as they kick start attack from the defence, which is the hallmark of present day football.

One thrilling factor about football is that, if you are good, you are good, whether as a  goalkeeper or outfield player, the field will always display how talented he is to everyone watching and there is no doubt that Utoblo has not disappointed in this category, as seen in some of his fantastic saves in training.

It is not surprising to those that have been following his exploits in the colours of Mavlon FC of Lagos in the U – 19 youth league in Lagos State where he had been voted the best goalkeeper in the league twice.

It was furthered by www.totorinews.com that the cheerful goalkeeper is already being monitored by some European clubs and if everything works out fine, he will be the latest ambassador of Nigerian football, plying his trade in Europe.

It is very interesting to note that the fortunes of Nigerian football suffering bad day in office as a result lack of good goalkeepers may soon be a thing if the likes of Nathaniel Nwosu, Chijioke Anigboso, Saheed Akanbi and John Utoblo continues to develop themselves.

And with Europe already beckoning for Utoblo at 17 years old, there is strong optimism that the young goalkeeper may fulfil his great potentials, if he remains focused and continue to work hard in the job of preventing the ball from resting inside the net.
