Harry Kane Wins Ballon d’Or After Record-Breaking Season

Recorder breaker...Harry Kane

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has been crowned the winner of the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or, becoming the first English footballer in 25 years to claim the prestigious individual award, reports www.totorinews.com.

The England captain received the honour at a ceremony in London on Monday, October 26, following an outstanding 2025/26 campaign in which he established himself as one of the most prolific goalscorers in world football.

Kane, 33, scored 61 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern Munich across all competitions last season, helping the German giants secure the Bundesliga title and the German Cup.

His impressive form extended to the international stage, taking his combined tally for club and country to 73 goals during the campaign.

The former Tottenham Hotspur forward finished ahead of France captain Kylian Mbappé and Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal in the race for football’s most coveted individual prize.

Kane also claimed the Gerd Müller Trophy as the season’s outstanding goalscorer, capping a remarkable year in which his finishing ability, consistency and leadership helped Bayern dominate domestic football.

His Ballon d’Or triumph ends England’s 25-year wait for a winner, with former Liverpool striker Michael Owen the last Englishman to receive the award in 2001.

Speaking after receiving the trophy, Kane expressed his gratitude to those who supported him throughout his career, acknowledging the hard work and determination that had brought him to the pinnacle of world football.

The achievement represents a major milestone for the Bayern forward, whose journey included loan spells in English lower-league football before he developed into one of Europe’s leading strikers.

Kane’s success also makes him the first player representing a Bundesliga club to win the men’s Ballon d’Or since Borussia Dortmund’s Matthias Sammer in 1996.

The award further underlines his transformation from a promising English striker into a global football superstar following his move from Tottenham to Bayern Munich in 2023.
