“Iheanacho still something to offer in the Super Eagles. He may have had a not too good season in England, but i know he still has a lot to offer in the national team. Iheanacho can only become a better player at this stage of his career.” Babangida said.

‘I knew the qualities i saw in him when Sunday Oliseh was the Head coach of the Super Eagles. We gave him the necessary support and he gave the team fantastic performance on the pitch,” he added.

“But he has to checkmate himself very well and improve on the aspect of his game that might have affected him to be on the bench in Leicester City most of the season. He can only improve and get better because i still feel that he has a lot to offer Nigeria.

“There is nothing to fight in the national team than to work hard and improve your game during the training sessions in the camp. Once the coach knows the player is capable to give him what he needs in the team, he will ensure that the player makes the team.

“I know that Iheanacho still has more to offer and he is capable, but it is left for the coach to make the decision on the players that will make it to Egypt for AFCON tournament,” he said.

The AFCON camp of the Super Eagles will open on June 2 in Asaba, Delta state.
