Golden Eaglets of Nigeria gave Bello Garba Gusau , the coordinator of the team a pleasant surprise after the team defeated Olympic Hybrid Academy 4-1 on Friday, as they celebrated and sang birthday songs to him.
The former coach of Zamfara United has been a father – figure to the players in camp and he was a bit shock as he never expected the birthday songs, but he ended up smiling, hugging the players and officials of the team.
“I never expected the players to start sing birthday songs and looking at my direction. I guessed one of the officials told the players that my birthday is today. I thank God for the gift of life and to add another year to my life,” Bello told the media in Abuja.
He further revealed that it has been very fulfilling working with the players, adding that they are ready to always obey instructions, which makes it easy for the coaches and the officials.
“The players have been wonderful. I see them as my sons and they see me as their father in camp.
Everything has been very cordial between the officials and the players, as we hope to build a very strong team that will make Nigerians be happy at the AFCON U-17 tournament in Algeria, ” he said.
