Former Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr has labelled the performance of the Super Eagles at AFCON 2021 tournament in Cameroon as very disappointing, reports www.totorinews.com.
Super Eagles shockingly crashed out in round 16 in the clash against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia to the dismay of football loving Nigerians.
Rohr had a different view on the efforts of Taiwo Awoniyi, whom he described as having a very good tournament, despite newly coming into the team with just one cap prior to the AFCON tournament.
“Nigeria was disappointing – losing to a weakened Tunisia in the round of 16 came as a surprise. Although Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin played a very good tournament,” Rohr told Sportschau, a German sports magazine on broadcaster ARD.
“You could see his potential, but there was still a lack of coordination with the team – he hasn’t been there very long,” he added.
