Nigerian striker Charles Agada was the standout performer as HNK Orijent came from two goals down to secure an exciting 3-2 victory over Vukovar 1991 in Saturday’s Croatian SuperSport Prva NL encounter, reports www.totorinews.com.
Agada scored one goal and also won a crucial penalty as Orijent produced an impressive second-half comeback at the Krimeja Stadium in Rijeka.
The visitors took control of the encounter with goals from Rai De Oliveira Alves in the 19th minute and Dino Jergović in the 55th minute to establish a commanding 2-0 advantage.
However, Orijent responded strongly, with Miroslav Iličić reducing the deficit in the 66th minute before Agada brought the home side level six minutes later with a well-taken goal in the 72nd minute.
The former Mavlon FC of Lagos attacker continued to trouble the Vukovar defence and won a penalty which helped Orijent complete their remarkable comeback, with Iličić converting to register his second goal of the afternoon in the 84th minute.
Agada’s goal and decisive contribution in winning the penalty underlined his importance to Orijent’s attacking play as the Croatian side secured all three points.
The victory represents another positive outing for the Nigerian striker, who continues to make his presence felt in Croatian football.
