The just concluded Aiteo Cup final for both men and women’s football has been described as world class football in all ramifications by Ndiana Matthew, Head, Strategic Communications, Media and Event of Aiteo group.
In a chat with www.totorinews.com in Benin City after the grand finale that witnessed great football artistry from the women’s final between Bayelsa Queens and FC Robo, which ended 4 – 2 in favour of queens from Bayelsa and the men’s cracker between Nasarawa United and Bayelsa United that produced 2-2 draw in regulation time, before the eventual triumph of Bayelsa United 4-3 on penalties, Matthew said both matches were class acts to watch.
He noted further that the organisation of the grand final was top notch judging by the facilities of the newly renovated Ogbe stadium, Benin City, which hosted the National Sports Festival few months ago.
“The just concluded final is the best for me. This was world class. The stadium has just been renovated by the Edo state government, they held the national sports festival. The grand final was a beauty to behold,” Ndiana Matthew told www.totorinews.com.
“It was broadcast live by Super Sport. It was also broadcast live on Aiteo’s YouTube Page. If you want to watch it go to Aiteo grp on You Tube,” he added.
“You can watch both games. You can scrol back, look at some actions as you wish. The games can be described as world class and Aiteo is proud to be associated with Nigeria football.
“If you look at the jerseys and the quality of the merchandizing this year, it was an international standard and we hope to do better.
“Also significant is that we have two teams from our host state. OML 29 is in Bayelsa state. So, Aiteo came out to do something good in Nigeria football, which has now exposed two teams from Bayelsa state that may not have gotten such limelight.
“One of them is going to represent Nigeria in CAF women’s continental competition and the other one in CAF confederation cup competition.
“There are no better results than these. Nigerians need to give kudos to Aiteo group for these laudable achievements in football,” he said.
Bayelsa United smiled home with twenty-five million naira (N25 million) for emerging the men’s champions and Bayelsa Queens got ten million naira (N10 million) as women’s champion.
Nasarawa United, the runners up in the men’s category got ten million naira (N10 million) and FC Robo Queens will console themselves with five million naira (N5 million).
