Players’ Score Card vs Squirrels: Onuachu, Sanusi, Osimhen top performers

It is no longer news that the Super Eagles broke the eight years record of Squirrels not losing at home with the goal scored by Paul Onuachu in added minutes to ensure the maximum points for Nigeria.

In a game that the Squirrels failed to come out from their holes with their defensive tactics, as they hoped for a draw, which would have ensured their qualification to the African football fiesta in Cameroon next year.

Below is the rating of the players on parade by www.totorinews.com

Maduka Okoye : He was in goal for the Super Eagles. Okoye was not really tested due to the defensive approach of the Squirrels.Rating is 5/10

Ola Aina : Played from the right full back. He marked very well but was not in the thick of the action upfront most of the time.Rating is 5/10

Zaidu Sanusi : When you are looking for a natural left full back, factory fitted and well balanced to defend and to initiate attack against the opponents, Zaidu Sanusi is that player. He performed his role excellently to the delight of every lover of the Super Eagles.Rating is 7/10

Leon Balogun : There is no doubt that Leon Balogun has gotten his groove back since he joined Glasgow Rangers of Scotland. He was solid at the defence, never gave alarm to be worried.Rating is 6/10.

Wiliams Troost -Ekong : The captain of the team in the absence of Ahmed Musa. He was not that commanding in the central defence, though he had a good understanding with Balogun.Rating is 5/10

Wilfred Ndidi : No matter the formation  a coach deploys, so long that Ndidi finds himself in the defensive midfield role, be rest assured of a good performance.Rating is 6/10

Joe Aribo : He was very active and energetic linking the midfield to the attack. He was very visible everywhere on the pitch.Rating is 6/10

Kelechi Iheanacho: Very glad with his good form in the colours of Leicester City of England, but was used more in the creative midfield of the team. He was a bit quiet in the game.Rating is 5/10

Samuel Chukwueze: The Villareal of Spain player has shown over the years that he is a very skillful and pacy winger, but he must improve on his final decision making with the ball. This weakness of his was again obvious against the Squirrels.Rating is 5/10

Henry Onyekuru : Just like Samuel Chukwueze, Onyekuru is another skillful and fast winger in the team. He played wide from the left and he was not really effective pushing the attack of the Eagles.Rating is 5/10

Victor Osimhen: He threatened the defence of Squirrels all through the game. The defensive approach of the opponents gave him limited opportunities to score goals. His deflected shot by the goalkeeper was good enough for Paul Onuachu to head into the net the winning goal.Rating is 7/10

Substitutes

Chidozie Awaziem : The most improved Nigerian defender at the last AFCON in Egypt. He had a decent game in the few minutes he spent on the pitch. Rating is 5/10

Paul Onuachu : Loved the fact that Gernot Rohr allowed both Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu to pair together upfront, which eventually brought the goal scored by Onuachu. The lanky striker has all it takes to give Nigerians more to cheer if properly used by the technical crew of the team. Rating is 7/10

Anayo Iwuala

Anayo Iwuala : The performance of Anayo Iwuala that plies his trade with  Enyimba of Aba against Squirrels showed that good talents abound in NPFL. Iwuala added bite to the attack and there was no dull moment despite being a debutant. Rating is 6/10
