Are you a coach?

That is the question most Nigerian coaches do ask football pundits, fans and other stakeholders while analysing or doing a review of a football game.

Agreed that i am not a football coach, but i can see clearly to know when a good player is having a terrific or terrible game on the pitch.

Frank Onyeka was having a terrific game yesterday against Tunisia. Super Eagles were in cruise control as they led 3-0, then Eric Chelle decided to replace him with Chidera Ejuke, while also bringing in Moses Simon for Akor Adams.

All of a sudden, the momentum switched to the Tunisians. The North Africans took the game to Super Eagles, they scored from a free kick and few minutes later, from the spot to make it 3-2.

Yours truly was filled with tension and sure, other Nigerians were in the same situation wherever they watched from across the world.

Your team was leading 3-0 and you chose to bring in Moses Simon and Chidera Ejuke two attacking wingers in place of Akor Adams, a striker and Onyeka a midfielder you substituted.

Chelle, what has Raphael Onyedika done to deserve having seat belt glued to him on the bench? If you are removing Onyeka, then Onyedika should step in. The midfield still needed a balance, afterall, we were not lacking in goals at 3-0, but Chelle did the opposite.

The party almost scattered. It would not have been funny, had it been the Catharge Eagles clawed back to end the game 3- 3, but we were relieved that the game ended in 3-2 victory for the superior Eagles from Nigeria.

Going forward, i hope that Chelle will read the game very well in the area of substitutions as the tournament progresses to the knockout games.

Nevertheless, Chelle must be commended for the two wins recorded by the Super Eagles. An excellent result and hopefully, some players who are yet to play will be given the chance against Uganda on Tuesday.

It will not be out of place to rest Semi Ajayi, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Osayi and even Stanley Nwabali from the starting 11 against the Cranes of Uganda.

What do you think?
