Mother luck smiled at the Black Galaxies as the team knocked out CHAN Super Eagles from the 2023 CHAN tournament to be hosted in Algeria in January, reports www.totorinews.com.
CHAN Eagles were able to cancel the two goals deficit suffered in the 1st leg in Cape Coast. It was a game that Nigeria had more of the ball possession from the blast of the whistle to the end.
The first half ended goalless, despite all the pressure piled at the Ghanaian defence, as Eagles were not clinical to have a goal to crown their efforts.
The same scenario continued until 76th when Zulkifilu Mohammed gave the Abuja fans something cheer.
With time tickling away, it appeared that Eagles would only have a goal to show their hardwork, but in a twinkling of an eye, with some seconds remaining inside the four minutes added time, Chinedu Akuneto hit the net.
There was jubilation in the air among the Nigerian fans. It went straight into the penalties afterwards.
Sadly, Eagles lost to the Black Galaxies 5-4 on penalties after playing 2-2 on aggregate.
With this development, Nigeria has failed to qualify for CHAN tournament back to back.
