Venerable Sunday Edogbeji, the Anglican Communion Priest, the Dean of the Cathedral of St. Paul, Oleh has revealed the reasons behind establishing Holy Arrows FC in the community, www.totorinews.com reports exclusively.
According to the football loving priest, he was inspired by the zeal to help the numerous young football talents roaming the streets in his community doing nothing and engaging them in football will create a platform to be responsible in the society.
“I got inspired when I saw the young ones, who are footballers roaming the streets and I thought that as a minister of God, i should minister to these young Nigerians the word of God,” Venerable Edogbeji told www.totorinews.com
“Even it is not only preaching the word of God, but I should also do something to help them. So, I set up Holy arrows football club of Oleh,” he added.
“So while these young footballers are engaged in noble deeds of football, I will also use the opportunity to inculcate in them the fear of God.
“I believe when they are involved in noble activities, they will put themselves away from rituals, criminal activities, immorality, drug addictions and all sort of things not good for the well being of the society,” he said.
Holy Arrows will play in the Nigeria National League , NNL in the new season.
