When money is the centre of attraction

Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou on my mind.

This fight is the most talked about for the past three months after the deal was sealed in December.

It is not a title fight. It is a money fight. Anthony Joshua, a former Heavyweight boxing champion of the world will enter into the ring against Francis Ngannou, who made his name in the NMA before venturing into boxing to fight Tyson Fury in his first fight.

Ngannou was lively in his fight against Fury. He knocked Fury down, but the British recovered and won the fight.

This is the second fight of Ngannou. If he gets knocked out or loses to Joshua, I don’t think it is a big deal. The world of boxing will say the fight was a learning curve for the Cameroonian.

For Joshua, this fight is a big risk for what he represents in boxing. He can’t afford to lose the fight, if he aims to remain relevant.

The money factor is very tempting. $50m for AJ and $20m for Ngannou is a very tempting offer. I hope both boxers will apply wisdom and not hurt each other deadly, while amusing boxing fans.

Personally, I see this fight as substitution by elimination. The world of boxing just want the world to be entertained by two African blood brothers in a fight that has nothing to do with ranking and whoever wins is elevated and the other relegated.

Who will be elevated? Who will be relegated? These are the two main questions begging for answer at the end of the showdown in the ring on Friday night in Saudi Arabia.
